Rajnikant - Indian Film Icon
Rajnikanth, also known as Shivaji Rao Gaekwad, is an Indian film actor and cultural icon who has appeared in more than 150 films, predominantly in Tamil cinema. He was born on December 12, 1950, in Bangalore, Mysore State (now Karnataka), India.
Rajnikanth worked as a bus conductor before starting his acting career in Tamil cinema in the 1970s. He made his debut in the Tamil film Apoorva Raagangal (1975) directed by K. Balachander. He gained popularity with his roles in films like Mullum Malarum (1978), Baasha (1995), Padayappa (1999), and Endhiran (2010).
Rajnikanth has won numerous awards for his acting including four Tamil Nadu State Film Awards for Best Actor, and a Filmfare Award for Best Tamil Actor. In addition to acting, Rajnikanth has also worked as a screenwriter, producer, and playback singer.
Rajnikanth is known for his unique style of acting, his dialogue delivery, and his larger-than-life screen presence. He has a massive fan following and is regarded as one of the biggest movie stars in India. He has also been honored with the Padma Bhushan and the Padma Vibhushan, two of India's highest civilian awards.
